Objective:
With the advent of rapid infrastructural development and digitization of operations. Project Management (PM) as a field of study has matured with time and a professional who has PM Knowledge or certification is greatly sought after by companies. In India the PM knowledge and its application amongst working professionals continues to be limited particularly in the case of Tier-2 and Tier-3 contractors on account of which many of the projects often complete behind the schedule and over the budget putting severe strain on the material and other resources. To fill this knowledge, gap this short workshop on PM is targeted at professionals who are working in the field to update their PM knowledge thereby providing an impetus in project delivery. The online nature of the course will help the participants to attend the same from their workplaces. Besides professionals, this Workshop will also be beneficial to existing students of Engineering in Final Year and students who have passed out of technical institutes. The uniqueness of the course lies in the fact that many actual case studies and experiences will be discussed along with the technical aspects, and this would help the bidding project professionals to work in an effective manner.

There are no prerequisites for attending the course. Working knowledge of English and technical degree/diploma would be beneficial.
Detail Course Outline with Session Plan:
- Session 1: Project Definitions, Role of Project Manager, Project Environment, Project Organization.
- Session 2: Project Scope, Work Breakdown Structure, Responsibility Matrix, Project Life Cycle Stages.
- Session 3: Project Feasibility, preparation of project report, financial analysis like NPV, IRR, project strategy.
- Session 4: Project Planning and Monitoring, CPM, PERT, Construction of Networks, Activity Duration and Relationship, Precedence Diagramming Method.
- Session 5: Exercises in Construction of Networks.
- Session 6: Direct and Indirect Cost of Project Concept of Project crashing, Resources in the Project and Resource Levelling.
- Session 7: Project Procurement, tendering, bidding and contracting, pre award and post award stages, important clauses in contracts, payment terms, force majeure, arbitration etc.
- Session 8: Resource Management in project, site management including mobilization.
- Session 9: PMBOK Concepts.
- Session 10: Monitoring of Project using Earned Value Techniques, Updating the networks, Project S Curves, Case Studies.
- Session 11: Introduction to PM Software packages like MS Projects/Primavera.
- Session 12: Exercises on MS Projects.
Workshop Structure
Total 10 online sessions. Quiz will be taken at the end of the course. Certificate will be given. Minimum 80% attendance is compulsory.
